The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has confirmed that the 2026/27 Uganda Premier League (UPL) season will kick off on August 28, 2026.

The new campaign will begin 98 days after the conclusion of the 2025/26 season, which ended with Vipers SC being crowned league champions.

Ahead of the league’s return, FUFA has scheduled the Super 8 tournament to take place from August 1 to August 16. The competition is expected to feature the top eight teams from the previous season, subject to confirmation by the federation.

The traditional curtain-raiser, the FUFA Super Cup, will be played on August 23 between the reigning Uganda Premier League champions and the Stanbic Uganda Cup holders.

This year’s encounter will see Vipers SC face Kitara FC, who secured the Uganda Cup title after defeating SC Villa in the final played at Njeru on Saturday.

FUFA has also outlined the club licensing programme ahead of the new season. The primary registration window will open on July 1, while physical inspection visits to clubs will be conducted between July 1 and July 15.

July 15 has been set as the deadline for clubs to submit all licensing requirements for assessment.

The federation will publish the final list of licensed clubs eligible to participate in the 2026/27 season on July 27 before releasing the official league fixtures on July 28.

The announcement provides clubs with a clear roadmap as preparations begin for another Uganda Premier League campaign.
