Paidha Black Angels held their nerves to attain their first victory of the campaign while Gaddafi earned a vital away victory in Mbale as the StarTimes FUFA Big league second round kicked off on Sunday evening with six games, three in each group, Elgon and Rwenzori.
Starting off in the Elgon group, Paidha Black Angels garnered their first victory of the campaign after they defeat Maroons FC 1-0 at the Bar Okoro grounds in Zombo courtesy of a Patrick Aruwa’s first half strike.
The maiden victory takes Paidha to four points, three below Maroons who sit second bottom with 7 points garnered in 8 games.
In Mbale, Gadaffi secured a vital 2-0 victory over Mbale Heroes at the Mbale Municipal Stadium to move joint top of the Elgon group.
Marco Barsey and James Otim scored a goal each to earn their side all three points.
The win takes Gadaffi joint top of the Elgon group with 16 points garnered in 8 games, level with Arua Hill SC.
In the other game in the Elgon group, Michael Siwu netted a late equaliser to deny Arua Hill SC from securing all three points away from home at the Emokori Playgrounds in Bukedea.
Siwu netted in the 84th minute to cancel out Alfred Leku’s strike just after the hour mark.
The draw means Arua Hill stay unbeaten this season and have garnered 16 points in 8 games while Black Power consolidate their third position with 13 points.
In the Rwenzori group, Brian Omony netted a late spot kick to secure Proline FC a 1-all stalemate with Kigezi HomeBoys at the Kabale Municipal Stadium.
Umony’s strike late on in the game cancelled out Tabule Roger’s opener for the Gorillas.
While in Mbarara, Ndejje University and Nyamityobora FC played out to a 2-2 draw at the Kakyeka Stadium. All the four goals were netted in the opening half with Ivan Ahimbisibwe netting for the Abanyakare while Francis Onekait and an own goal sealed a point for the University Lions.
In the other game in the Rwenzori group, Waters FC and Tooro United played out to a goalless stalemate at the Kavumba Recreation Center, Wakiso.
Action will resume on Monday evening with the remaining two fixtures of the Matchday eight. Tiles and Terrazzo will host Luwero United at the Kakyeka Stadium while Kataka will battle out with Calvary in Mbale.
