Fortebet Real Stars Monthly Sports Awards: Kiplangat scoops second award

Uganda’s long distance runner Victor Kiplangat won in the Atheltics category of the Fortebet Real Stars Monthly Sports Awards for the month of August . 

This all happened at the monthly event that took place at Lazio Restaurant in Kololo, Kampala on Tuesday morning .

Kiplangat won gold in the men’s marathon of the World Athletics Championships in Budapest a week ago after he posted a winning time of 2:09:53.

To win the Fortebet monthly award, Kiplangat beat competition from among others Joshua Cheptegei who won gold in the men’s world 10,000m category in the same competition.

In absence of Kiplangat, he’s award was handed to the Athletics Federation President Mr. Dominec Otuchet who labeled the winner as a humble, well disciplined and God fearing man.

Adding that , “Sports is perceiverance, consistency, Patience and needs self control . When you have these virtues, for sure you will succeed with God’s grace.”

“For the young men and women who are colleagues of Victor, continue to push on and you will be World beaters as well.”he concluded

Meanwhile, in other categories, Yasin Nasser & Ali Katumba who won the 2023 NRC Rally took home the rally award after beating off competition from two duos Ponsiano Lwakataka- Paul Musaazi and Jas Mangat – Joseph Kamya.

In football, ongoing Masaza Cup Top scorer, Yusuf Mukwana of Kyaggwe was winner edging both CAF CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers topscorer Fazila Ikwaput and Shakib Mayanja who scored 5 goals in six games for Omutima.

In Ludo, Brian Balinya of Ntinda Ludo Club who won the 2023 Individual Championship was crowned winner, drowning both fellow finalist Muhammad Kayaaya and semi-finalist Rose Nsereko.

For the Netball category, Shadia Nassanga who impressed at the Netball World Cup in South Africa won August’s Netball Player of the Month after she came out on top of centre Mary Baagala and Goal shooter Mary Nuba.

And Africa Elite Boxing Championship final Wasswa Ssali aka Kisolosolo put the icing on the cake winning the boxing category over UPDF ‘s Erina Namutebi and fan’s favourite Ukasha Matovu.


The awards that recognize the best performers are an initiative of Isaac Mukasa and are sponsored by ForteBet and Jude Colour Solutions.

Tuesday’s Ceremony was graced by the Athletics Federation President Mr. Dominec Otuchet, Fortebet’s Resty Mbatidde who’s the Assistant Media Relations, Henry Zimbe, the Jude Colour Solutions Promotions Manager including Fortebet Real Stars Awards’ CEO Isaac Mukasa.
