The 2024/25 Women Super League returns on the afternoon of Friday 27th September 2024 and in style with a new headline sponsor, Finance Trust Bank.
Finance Trust Bank committed UGX 2B in Women’s football with Uganda’s top tier division at the forefront and on its first day, 2022/23 champions Kampala Queens FC and Wakiso Hill WFC will lock horns at the Phillip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
Kampala Queens finished as the first runners up in the previous League campaign and have lost as much players as they have signed for this upcoming campaign.
Among the signed players are Sumaiya Nalumu and Shamusa Najjuma all from Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC.
Other players include;
Defenders-
Miriam Nakayiwa, Sumaya Namulondo, Shakirah Nankwanga, Maureen Kimono
Midfielders –
Zaitun Namaganda
Forwards-
Peace Muduwa, Kamiyat Naigaga
All these names are above will add more energy to the side with hope to clinch their second trophy in three seasons.
During the biggest chunk of last season, team Captain Shamirah Nalugya was out sidelined with injury but this time declared her availability in a press conference ahead of the game;
“I am available and feel fine” she said
Adding that “Last season things didn’t move as well as we wanted but this time round we have done preps as players with our coaches so we hope to put up great performances and standard.”
“This teams in the League have increased from 10 to 12 clubs, every game is so important and crucial as team, we want to win every game in the first round.”
“We want to make our fans happy just like the others who will have come out to watch the game.” She concluded
On the other side, Wakiso Hill WFC who lost both Kimono and Namaganda to Kampala Queens will hope to start their campaign with atmost confidence.

Action as Wakiso Hill take on She Corporate in the 2024 FUFA Women’s Cup semifinal.
After trying their best to survive relegation last season under the guidance of head coach Rogers Nkugwa.
In this season, they will hope to do better than they did in the previous campaign after attaining some experience over the last edition .
Defending and record champions Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC will commence their championship defence at home against Rines SS WFC on Saturday.
It’s also important to note that this new campaign will see the number of teams in the division increased from 10 to 12.
The 2021/22 champions She Corporate FC leads the four new entrants into the league with Tooro Queens FC, Amus College WFC, and Olila High School WFC the other three teams.
It is also interesting to know that some Women Super League games will form a doubleheader format with games in the Uganda Premier League.
This initiative will begin immediately at the start of the new Women Super League season with Kampala Queens against Wakiso Hill set to curtain-rise a huge UPL encounter between KCCA FC and Kitara FC at Lugogo on Friday which will be played at 7pm.
