FIFA World Cup 2022: Morocco continue to impress with advancement to quaterfinals

After 36 years of not exceeding the group stages, Morocco knocked out Spain on penalties on Tuesday to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup quarterfinals in Qatar.

In the game that ended goalless at Full time and through out the extra time, Atlas Lions scored three goals against Spain, who failed to score a goal against the Moroccan national team.

Throughout the 120 minutes, the Atlas Lions were    resilient against Spain’s ball possession and attempted strikes deploying Soufane Boufal who was unruly in the middle of the park.

After penalty time, the final whistle marked celebrations in and outside Qatar( Africa) , with over 38 million Moroccans and African at large celebrating the victory.

This has been a dream come true for Morocco who topped their group, after leaving their group unbeaten, drawing goalless with Croatia in its opening group match and going on to defeat both Belgium (2-0) and Canada (2-1).

Morocco will play either Switzerland or Portugal in the quarterfinals.
