FIFA WCQ 2022: notable stars dropped as Micho names travelling squad to Ethiopia

A host of notable stars were dropped by Cranes Coach Milutin Sredojevic as he named a 20-man squad that travelled to Addis Ababa for a friendly match against Ethiopia. The squad travelled to Ethiopia on Thursday morning abroad the Ethiopian Airlines.

Among the headlining exclusions include RS Berkane’s Patrick Kaddu, Express FC’s Muzamir Mutyaba and Vipers’ Paul Willa.

Kaddu has been struggling with injuries throughout the training camp while Mutyaba miss will raise a few eyebrows after he was one of Express’ best players at the CECAFA Kagame Cup. Martin Kizza has been included in the final squad.

Innocent Wafula, Joel Mutakubwa and Richard Basangwa also made the cut.

Uganda will play the first qualification match against Kenya in Nairobi at the Nyayo Stadium on September 2, before travelling back to Kampala for the affair with Mali slated for September 6, 2021.
