Entebbe UPPC FC delivered a commanding performance to beat 10-man Police FC 3-0 in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League encounter played at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.

Steven Munguchi scored twice in the first half before Andrew Kugizi added a late third goal to seal a comfortable victory for UPPC, who took full advantage of Police FC’s numerical disadvantage.

UPPC made a flying start, breaking the deadlock just three minutes into the game when Munguchi headed home a well-delivered cross from Gift Odongo to give his side an early lead.

The hosts continued to dominate proceedings, putting the Police FC defence under sustained pressure as they searched for a second goal. Ibrahim Orit had two opportunities to extend UPPC’s advantage but failed to convert his chances.

However, Munguchi made no mistake in the 28th minute, rising to head home another cross, this time from Orit, to complete his brace and give UPPC a comfortable 2-0 lead.

Police FC’s task became even more difficult just before half-time when Richard Matovu was sent off after receiving a second yellow card, leaving his side with 10 men for the remainder of the contest.

With a two-goal advantage and an extra player, UPPC focused on managing the game in the second half, maintaining control while limiting Police FC’s chances of mounting a comeback.

The Entebbe-based side eventually put the result beyond doubt in the 89th minute when Andrew Kigozi chipped the ball over Police FC goalkeeper Hadji Shukuru to complete the 3-0 victory.

The win lifts Entebbe UPPC FC to fourth place on the league table with 10 points, while Police FC drop to sixth position with seven points.

UPPC will take confidence from the emphatic victory as they continue their campaign with an away trip to URA FC at Hamz Stadium.

Police FC will be looking to regroup after a difficult afternoon at Nakivubo as they return to action at home against SC Villa.
