Diaspora: Okello on target, Miya finally returns from injury – how Ugandan professionals fared over the weekend


It’s a new week that is coming after an exciting weekend in the world of football where we had former KCCA FC midfielder, Allan Okello score his first league goal for Paradou AC and Farouk Miya return from injury – here’s how Uganda players abroad fared over the weekend.

In Algeria, Youngster Allan Okello was on target as his Paradou AC side beat WA Tlemcen 1-4 away from home in the Algerian Ligue 1. Okello scored the third goal for PAC as they are commonly known back in Algeria.

In England, Uche Ikpeazu Mubiru started and featured for 76th minutes while Jordan Obita featured full-time as their side, Wycombe Wanderers suffered a 3-0 loss to Nottingham Forest in the Skybet English Championship

Still, in the English Championship, Jayden Onen was absent from the Matchday squad for Reading FC as they drew goalless with Stoke City.

In Israel, Fahad Bayo started and was subbed off in the 74th minute for goalscorer Berihon as his Ashdod SC side claimed a 1-0 win over Maccabi Haifa in the Israel Premier League. Timothy Awanyi featured full-time.

Still, in Israel, Luwagga Kizito featured full-time for Hapoel Kfar Saba as they suffered a 1-0 loss to Hapoel Beer Sheva.

In Sweden, Isaak Ssewankambo started for Ostersunds FK as they lost 4-0 to Lokomotiv Moscow in a club-friendly.

In Denmark, Moses Opondo started and played 64 minutes for Odense Boldkub who defeated Nordsjælland in the Danish Superliga.

Still in the Danish Superliga, Robert Kakeeto started and featured full-time as his side, AaB Aalborg drew 1-all with Brøndby away from home.

In Tanzania, Taddeo Lwanga started for Simba SC as they drew 2-all with Nicholas Wadada and Mathias Kigonya’s Azam FC in the Tanzanian Premier League. Both Wadada and Kigonya also started for Azam.

In Kenya, Hashim Ssempala started and featured full-time for Tusker FC as they claimed a 1-0 win over Wazito FC in the BetKing Premier League

Still, in the BetKing Premier League, Benjamin Ochan started and kept a clean sheet as AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia played out to a goalless draw.

In Turkey, Farouk Miya returned after some time out and started for 46 minutes as Konyaspor SC side lost 1-0 to Beşiktaş in the Turkish SuperLig.

In Scotland, Bevis Mugabi started and featured full-time as his Motherwell FC side suffered a 2-1 loss away to Celtics.
