Diaspora: Kizza, Mubiru assist as Watenga propels Chippa United to the Nedbank Cup final- how Ugandan players abroad fared over the weekend

Mustafa Kizza and Uche Ikpeazu Mubiru assisted for their respective sides as league action continued over the weekend that had many Ugandan players abroad in action with their respective teams. Here is how Ugandan players abroad fared with their respective teams.

Starting off in the Major League Soccer, Cranes wing-back Mustafa Kizza provided an assist for Kenya’s Victor Wanyama as Montreal Impact cruised to a 4-2 victory over Toronto FC in their league opener. Kizza assist came in the 54th minutes when Montreal were already 2-1.

In England, Uche Ikpeazu Mubiru started and provided an assist for Admiral Muskwe for Wycombe Wanderers first goal of the match as they surrendered a two-goal lead to draw 2-all with Swansea away from home. Wycombe are on the brink of relegation from the Skybet English championship as they sit bottom with 34 points garnered in 42 games. Jordan Obita made the bench after returning from an injury.

In the English League Two, Elvis Bwomono featured full-time as his Southend United side drew goalless with Exeter City away from home. Southend remains second-bottom on the log with 38 points in 42 games.

In the England Premier League 2 Division 2, Jayden Onen played 90 minutes as his side, Reading U-23 suffered a 2-0 loss to Burnley U-23.

In Scotland, Bevis Mugabi was introduced on in the Extra time as Motherwell shot out Greenock Morton 5-3 in the Scottish Cup fourth round after a 1-1 draw after extra time.

In Denmark,  Moses Opondo was an unused substitute as his side, Odense Boldklub drew 1-all with SønderjyskE in the Danish SuperLiga playoff group B. Bashkim Kadrii netted for Odense early on in the first half but his goal was cancelled out Emil Holm in the second half. Odense remains second on the relegation log with 30 points in 25 games while SonderjyskE is third with 29 points.

Still in the Danish SuperLiga, Robert Kakeeto didn’t make it to the Matchday squad as his side, AaB Aalborg drew 1-all with Vejle BK to cement their top spot on the relegation table as they are on 33 points, three above second-placed Odense Boldklub.

In the Czech Republic, Edrisa Lubega started and featured for 87 minutes as his side, Pribram FC secured a vital 1-0 win over Zlín in the Czech First league to move off the bottom of the log. They now sit second bottom with 17 points in 27 games.

In the Czech National Football league, Isaac Muleme featured full-time and helped his side, Viktoria Zizkov secure a 1-0 victory over Ústí nad Labem. Zizkov sits seventh on the log with 26 points in 18 games.

In Israel, Luwagga Kizito played the full 90 as his side, Hapoel Kfar Saba suffered a 3-0 loss to Bnei Sakhnin in the Israeli Premier League. Hapoel sits bottom of the log with just 23 points in 26 games.

Still, in the Israeli Premier League, Fahad Bayo was absent from the Ashdod SC squad due to Injuries while Timothy Awanyi started and was subbed off in the second half as their side secured a 1-all with Maccabi Tel Aviv.

In Turkey, Farouk Miya didn’t make Konyaspor’s matchday squad as they drew goalless with  Kayserispor in the Turkish Super Lig on Friday afternoon.

In Sweden, Ronald Mukiibi played full-time while Isaak Ssewakambo featured for 78 minutes as their side, Ostersunds FK secured a routine 5-0 victory over Örebro in the Swedish Allsvenskan. Ostersunds sit third on the log after two games with 4 points.

Viola Nambi was an unused substitute for Vaxjo DFF as they drew 1-all with AIK in their opening game of the Swedish Damallsvenskan.

In South Africa, Isma Watenga put up a superb performance for Chippa United as he helped them secure a 1-0 victory over Pretoria Callies in the Nedbank Cup semi-final game at Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium. Chipa United will now face Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila F.C in the final on 8th May, 2021.

Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila F.C defeated a Denis Onyango-less Mamelodi Sundowns 6-5 in penalty shootouts after a goalless stalemate after 90 minutes.

In Tanzania, Taddeo Lwanga was absent from Simba’s matchday squad as they claimed a 1-0 victory over Mwadui in the Tanzanian Premier League. Simba moves to second spot on the log with 52 points garnered in 22 games, two points below Yanga FC who have four more games than Simba.

Still, in the Tanzanian Premier league, Nicholas Wadada featured full-time while Mathias Kigonya was out with an injury as their side, Azam FC secured a 1-0 victory over JKT Tanzania on Friday.

In Zambia, Shafik Batambuze featured for 90 minutes as his side, Kabwe Warriors were subjected to a 2-0 loss to Buildcon FC in the MTN Zambian Premier League.

In Egypt, Allan Kyambadde started on the bench and was introduced at the hour mark as his side, El Gouna claimed a vital 1-0 victory over ENPPI in the Egyptian Premier League. El Gouna currently occupies the 10th spot on the log with 24 points in  18 games.

In Congo, Joseph Ochaya featured full-time for TP Mazembe as they played out to a goalless draw with Blessing in the Congolese Linafoot.

In Vietnam, Moses Oloya started and featured full-time as his Hanoi FC suffered a narrow 1-0 loss to Hoang Anh Gia in the Vietnam league 1 while also Godfrey Kizito Baba played full-time as his side Thang Quang Ninh were 2-1 losers against Viettel.
