Derrick Ssekiranda: I have always wanted to play for Villa

After completing his transfer to the sixteen-time UPL champions SC Villa on a three-year deal, forward Derrick Ssekiranda revealed that he has always wanted to play for the Jogoos.

Ssekiranda on Monday morning was unveiled as the club’s latest addition after completing his dream move from Mengo United.

“It’s a dream come true to join SC Villa, the team I have wanted to play for since my childhood,” Ssekiranda said before adding,

“It’s a wonderful feeling to sign for the biggest club in Uganda and am so humbled that the Villa has accepted to give me a chance to showcase my talent with Uganda’s finest”

On his targets for the next season, he said,

” I will fight so hard so as I can be a first-team regular at the club, I will score lots of goal for this club and I hope to be fighting for the league’s Golden Boot if I get the chance”

The 18-year old started off his career at Proline Soccer Academy before shifting to KCCA U17 to feature in the FUFA Junior league., From KCCA, he joined Kampala Regional side KJT in 2018 and was snapped up by Mengo United mid last season, but didn’t feature in any game there because of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

He becomes Villa’s ninth signing of the ongoing transfer window after Martin Ssenkooto, Meddie Kibirige, Nasser Lukwago, Geoffrey Goffin Oyirwoth, Muhammad Ssenoga, Isaac Ogwang, Muhammed Nsereko, and Andrew Kiwanuka all the joined the club in the recent weeks
