Cranes forward Balinya close to joining KPL side

2018/19 StarTimes Uganda Premier League top scorer, Juma Balinya is close to completing a move to Kenyan giants Gor Mahia FC after he arrived in Nairobi on Monday morning.

The former Police FC player joined Yanga FC in June 2019 but left the club after only 6 months following the termination of his 2-year contract with the club due to unpaid wages and breach of contract by the club.

Since then, the lanky forward has been linked with a number of local clubs including Mukono based side, Kyetume FC and 16-time Uganda Premier League champions SC Villa.

The attacker scored 19 goals in 30 games for Police FC in the 2018-19 Startimes Premier League season, finishing the season as the league’s top scorer.

If the deal materializes, Juma Balinya will compete with Dennis Oliech and Dickson Ambundo for a starting spot up front.

Gor mahia lost Ivorian Yikpe Gnaimien and Ghanaian Francis Afriyie as both of them went AWOL from the club, thus the need for a well established forward, a solution Juma Balinya could provide

Clubs Juma Balinya has played for:

  1. Vipers SC. 2011-14
  2. A.S Port. 2014-2015
  3. Lweza FC. 2015-2016
  4. Police FC. 2016-2019
  5. Yanga FC. 2019
