BUL FC moved to the top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League standings after defeating SC Villa 2-1 in Tuesday’s top-of-the-table clash at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.
Alex Kitata opened the scoring in the 25th minute from a Swabiru Mpasa cross before Derrick Byabacwezi doubled BUL’s advantage in the 36th minute following a long goal kick from goalkeeper Braddy Wokorach.
SC Villa pulled one back through Tonny Asiku in the 69th minute but could not find an equaliser as BUL held on to maintain their unbeaten start and hand the Jogoos their first defeat of the season.
The victory takes BUL to 23 points, level with NEC FC but top on head-to-head advantage, following their earlier 2-1 win over NEC. SC Villa drop to third.
NEC moved into second place after Fahad Bayo’s goal secured a 1-0 victory over UPDF FC, while Kitara FC and Police FC shared a 1-1 draw.
BUL visit Vipers SC on November 18, while Villa host UPDF FC on November 20.
