AFCON U20: Morley Byekwaso named best coach, two Hippos feature on tournament’s best XI

Uganda Hippos’ Head Coach Morley Byekwaso has been named the best coach at the just concluded 2021 U20 African Cup of Nations championship in Mauritania.

This comes after the KCCA FC assistant  guided debutants Uganda to the finals of the tournament in Mauritania, which they lost 2-0 to the Ghana Black Satelites on Saturday evening.

Morley inspired Uganda to finish second in group A before they defeated Burkina Faso and Tunisia to secure their place in the final.

Also in the team of the tournament are two of Uganda’s players with Aziz Kayondo and Derrick Kakooza featuring following their impressive performance.

Kakooza finished top of the scorers chart with 5 goals in 6 games, while Kayondo was an integral member of the Hippos defense, helping his side concede only four goals in the whole tournament.

Youngster Abdul Fatawulo, who was named the tournament MVP  also features on the tournaments best eleven, having found the back of net twice including his spectacular effort against Tanzania in their opener.

Goalkeeper: Danlad Ibrahim

Defenders:  Flory Tangaao, Blondon Meyapya, Jawara Lamin, Aziz Kayondo

Midfielders: Chicheb Labidi, El Mehdi El Moubarik, Lamarama  Jallow

Forwards:  Abdul Fatawulo, Derrick Kakooza and Joffrey Bazie
