Midfielder Afriyie Barnie netted twice as his side won the AFCON U20 title after overcoming the Uganda Hippos 2-0 on Saturday evening at the Olympic Stadium in Nouakchott, Mauritania.
Barnie broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute when he guided the ball into the back of net after a Abdul Fatawu Isahaku excellent cornerkick.
The Black Satelite captain completed his bracce with 51 minutes on the clock after a Fatawu defensive spliting pass found Precious Boah in the box, who in turn calmly set up Barnie for his second of the game.
Uganda Hippos, who were making their U20 debut finish second and walk away with Silver medals while Ghana has now claimed their fourth tournament title. They had previously won it in 1993, 1999 and 2009.
This was Uganda’s first major final since the 1978 Africa Cup of Nations where the Cranes coincidentally lost to Ghana.
