The 9th edition of the Pepsi University Football League was launched today, Tuesday 4th February at the Kati Kati restaurant, Kampala.
This year’s edition comes with some new developments most notably the expansion the competition from the 16 teams that played in the 8th edition to 20 teams.
The new format sees Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) return to the group stages which they missed out on the last edition after being knocked out at the preliminary round.
The preliminary round was played between the last teams in the groups and the new entrants on a home and away basis to determine the teams to make the group stages. However, the preliminary round has been eliminated this year, thus paving way for for a five group competition.
MUST is joined by new entrants Muni University, Kabale University and Kisubi University with the 16 that played in the 8th edition to complete the 20 teams making five groups of four teams.
