Only eight countries will feature in this year’s CECAFA Women’s Championship in Uganda.
This was announced on on Wednesday 11 May, 2022 in a meeting conducted via zoom, the 8 teams that confirmed participation have been divided into two groups, each containing four.
The hosts Uganda, Rwanda, Djibouti, Tanzania, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Zanzibar and Burundi are the eight nations set to participate in the Championship.
Uganda and Burundi are using this as part of the preparations for the 2022 Total Energies Women Africa Cup of Nations in July.

The tournament is scheduled to take place this month from May 22nd to June 5th 2022 at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru.
Unlike the previous edition where all the nations will played against each other in a round-robin format to decide the winner this time round the Crested Cranes will play a normal tournament format.
