2024 Dope games: Olympics bound, Bukenya shines brightest

The maiden event on the 2024 calendar of the Uganda Skating Federation (USF) saw a huge turn up of revealers and skaters at Mukono Xtreme Park on Saturday 13th January.

With swift organisation by Dope games plus the atmost support from the Uganda Skateboard Society, Brian Bukenya emerged the overal winner of the 2024 Uganda Skateboard Championships.

Bukenya beat competition from Trevor Kanyike and Calvin Muwonge to walk away with a cash cheque of 1M UGX after showcasing better different skills on the board .

Kanyike finished 2nd in the race only to bag 500,000 UGX while Muwonge 3rd only to secure 250,000 UGX.

After finishing his game, Bukenya said the championships are part of his preparations for the upcoming Olympics tournament in Paris 2024;

“I am already a qualified olympian but I am glad to be part of the Dope games which play a huge part in grooming us the skaters for international events, it has been hardwork and being determined for me to win this championships today.”

“I would like to thank all the skaters who have put up a great competition today.” said Brian Bukenya after being announced the winner.

The President of Uganda Skating Federation (USF) Moses Ddungu urged all the skaters to use the championship as a stepping stone in preparations to the upcoming Olympics qualifiers.

“Today we have held our first event of the year the Uganda Skateboard Championships now we turn focus to the next event which is the Kampala Marathon speed skating.” he said

“I would like to urge all the skaters who are going to represent Uganda in the Olympics qualifiers to use this championship as part of their preparations.” concluded Moses Ddungu.
