In a closely contested game at the Masaka Recreation grounds, Kenneth Kimera scored the only goal of the day to send Gomba to the 2023 Masaza Cup final on Monday evening.

Having won the first leg 2-1, this was a chance for Gomba to extend their lead in the tie just like it was for Buddu to redeem themselves at home.

However Gomba won the second leg 1-0 to go through to the finals on a 3-1 aggregate.

In the other semifinal, Bulemeezi advanced to the finals after edging Mawokota 4-2 in Penalties at the Kasana Playground in Luweero.

Mawokota’s penalties were missed by Uganda Martyrs University’s Joseph Kayondo and Mansoor Anga.

The game ended one-all in the first leg at the Buwama playground, home to Mawokota and later both teams climaxed the 90 minutes on Monday with a goalless draw.

The Final will be played between Gomba and Bulemeezi and it will be the first time both teams will be in the final together.

This will be fourth final for Bulemeezi while for the record champions of Gomba it will be their ninth time on the final stage having won 6 of their last 8.

For Mawokota and Buddu, they will fight for the third place on a yet to announced venue and date.
