20-Women CECAFA Championship Squad released on Departure day


The Head Coach and Technical team on Thursday morning released a 20-man squad of the Crested Cranes set to participate in the CECAFA Women Championship in Tanzania.

The list was released after 10 days of residential training at the Njeru Technical Centre, Jinja under the stewardship of Faridah Bulega and Ayub Khalifan.

The team participated in a series of friendly games such as against Mukono High, UCU Lady Cardinals among others of which 2 out of the 3 were won by the national team.

The squad was initially composed of 35 players before it was trimmed to 27 who joined the residential camp at FUFA Technical Center.

Zaina Nandede, Esther Adokole, Gilian Akandinda, Marion Amangat, Phionah Nabbumba, Rashida Nankya, Meble Kusasira, Stella Musibika are among the players that were dropped on the last day.

This year’s edition of CECAFA Women’s Championship cup will be hosted in Dar-es-salaam, Tanzania starting on 16th November 2019. Uganda in the last edition finished second behind champion Tanzania on a goal difference disadvantage.

Uganda will start group B battle with Djibouti on 17th, Ethiopia on 19th, and end the pull with East African Giants Kenya.
