Wallace Karia replaces Muttasim Gafar as CECAFA boss

Tanzanian Football Federation (TFF) President Wallace Karia has been elected as Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) President.

On Wednesday 18th December evening, at the annual CECAFA congress that convened in Kampala on the eve of CECAFA final, it was confirmed that Karia had been elected CECAFA President unopposed.

The TFF boss replaces Sudan Football Association’s Muttassim Gafar and will serve for a term of 4 years.
Karia, a 56-year-old pledged to unite member Associations and strive to improve standards of football in the region.

There is urgent need to improve on the standards of football in the region. Youths, Women and beach football will form CECAFA’s pillars, we will run this show in a consultative form and each member shall have a voice.

Said Karia.

South Sudan’s Amin Francis and Eriteria’s Esayas Abrah were elected 1st and 2nd Vice predident respectively while Ssekamana Jean of Rwanda and Jira Isayaa of Ethiopia are the board members.

Long serving General Secretary, Nicholas Musonye has also reiterated his decision to stand down and confirmed he will be trying his hand in Politics, having served in the position for 20 years.
