Volleyball: Nullify the election results – Okila petitions NCS

0

Eddie Okila has filed a petition against the National Council of Sports (NCS) on the volleyball election results, calling for cancellation of the voting results labelling them null and void.

Uganda Volleyball Federation (UVF) held successful elections of the new executive on the 31st of January 2021 and Sadik Nassiwu was announced as  the newly elected president of the Federation after collecting 226 votes, beating incumbent Hadijja Namanda (21 votes) and Eddie Okila (28 votes).

In a petition dated 1st February 2021 as received by NCS, Okila alongside Hassan Sekajolo, who also lost in the recently concluded elections on the position of General Secretary say that the list of affiliates who were legally supposed to participate in voting was exaggerated hence many of the members who participated in voting were not attached to volleyball whether as delegates or volleyball members.

But the NCS General Secretary, Patrick Ogwel has replied to the Okila saying that they should present proof of what is in their petition hence forwarding it to their legal team.

‘We have forwarded the petition to our legal team, but we have also tasked the petitioners to submit proof of the irregularities’ Patrick Ogwel said.

The Congress attendance list will be of more use as we wait for the letter from the returning officers who were in charge of voting led by Charles Kamunvi.
