Vipers fights off Slaughterers test to extend unbeaten run

Fahad Bayo and Dan Sserunkuma scored 2 goals in a space of 10 minutes to extend Vipers’ unbeaten run in Startimes Uganda Premier League to 10 games.

Fahad Bayo headed Vipers into an early lead off a Bashir Asiku cross that caught the Kyetume backline off guard in the 5th minute.

9 minutes later, Fahad Bayo was still at the heart of trouble in Kyetume’s defense when he was brought down in the forbidden area by Benon Tahomora to let Daniel Sserunkuma score from the resulting penalty kick and double the lead for the hosts. It was a 2 goal lead for Vipers at halftime.

Goalie Joel Mutakubwa pulled off an important save to deny Fahad Bayo a second goal of the Match before halftime. The half time ended 2-0 9n favor of the visitors.

Kyetume came back for the second half a different side and pulled a goal back immediately Robert Ssentongo Sublime strike off a Vincent Kayizzi lay-off. This raised the mood at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole as the Slaughters pushed to tie the scores but Viper’s defense was rock tight to prevent a late Kyetume Surge.

The victory cemented Vipers spot at the top of the table with 24 points collected in 10 games while Kyetume FC is seventh with 13 points in 9 games.
