Uganda Premier League
- Bright Stars 1-2 Vipers
Vipers SC returned to the League summit with a 2-1 win over Bright Stars at Kavumba Recreation on Saturday evening.
Gusto Mulongo and Allan Okello netted the Venoms two goals in the opening half just like Bright Stars through Warren Buule.
The John Ayala Luyinda coached side had Mulongo finish off a corner from Moses Waiswa, after it had been poorly dealt with by Bright stars shot stopper Shamulan Kamya.
Four minutes later, Okello doubled the lead after beautifully finishing off a Karim Watambala cutback complimenting some brilliant team play.
At the half hour mark, Warren Buule found a consolation for Bright Stars with a great strike past Vipers goal keeper Dennis Kiggundu but it was not enough after both sides sharing the spoils in the second period.
However in that second period, Nelson Senkatuka also had a glorious opportunity to level matters but his effort hit the upright.
This result takes Vipers top of the table standings with 24 points, leapfrogging NEC FC who drew with URA FC on Thursday.
For a coach less Bright Stars, the worries continue as they stay bottom of the Log after losing their 7th season game, drawing three (3) and winning once.
In their next games, Vipers will next host BUL FC on 14th December at Kitende whereas Bright Stars visit NEC in Lugogo on 11th December.
