- Mbarara City 1-3 Vipers
Vipers Sports Club won their Fourth consecutive game and Fifth of the 2024/25 Uganda Premier League campaign against Mbarara City Football Club at Kakyeka Stadium on Tuesday evening.
The Venoms beat Mbarara 3-1 thanks to a second Allan Okello brace in a- row and Yunus Sentamu goal that sealed business to slender Latif Ssenkubuge’s efforts to bring the host side back into the game.
Okello opened scored the First goal in added time of the first stanza through the spot after Sentamu was kicked in the chest and onto the deck by Mbarara’s Yusuf Mafabi.
The second came seven (7) minutes after restart after another penalty was awarded to the Visitors after substitute Joseph Kafumbe handled the ball in the area.
However Mbarara gained some hope four minutes later as Ssenkubuge pulled one back after he rose way above Rogers Torach to head the ball home.
With 20 minutes left on the game, marvellous play was sighted when Milton Karisa combined with Allan Okello before laying it into Yunus Sentamu’s path who rounded off the goalkeeper to seal it.
This victory takes Vipers up top with 16 points despite having played a game more than all the teams apart from Mbarara City.
For Charles Livingstone Mbabazi’s charges of Mbarara, they stay 5th with 9 points in 7 games.
In their next games, Vipers will host KCCA at Kitende on 9th November as Mbarara travel to Bombo to visit UPDF on 6th November.
