UPL: David Kiiza last minute strike earns Bright stars draw against NEC

In the 89th minute, David Kiiza’s equalizer earned a point for Bright stars against NEC FC at the Kavumba Recreation ground.

After a long play of a goalless score, Captain Marvin Kavumba put the visitors into the lead in the 82nd minute.

Kavuma who came on as a substitute at the start of the second half scored from a penalty kick which resulted from Shafic Kakande’s handball in his own box.

Seven minutes later, David Kiiza’s shot in the center left of the goal went past goalkeeper, Benjamin Ochan to level matters.

Into the game, NEC dominance of the game involved several attacks from Rashid Okocha, Enock Ssebagala and right back Geriga Atendele who made a number of crosses throughout the 90 minutes.

On the other hand Kokus Alou, Sharif Nsereko and Nelson Ssenkatuka helped the hosts in attacking with their goalkeeper, Hassan Matovu registering a number of saves.

With 31 points in 26 matches, the Kavumba side move to the tenth position, 9 points above relegation.

The draw dropped coach Hussein Mbalangu’s side to the sixth position with 44 points in 26 matches. KCCA with 45 points replaced their former fifth position.

NEC will return to Lugogo to host table leaders, Vipers on 11th May while Bright stars will visit Maroons on the same day in Luzira prisons ground.
