Uganda Senior Women Lacrosse national denied visas to World Championships

The Uganda senior women Lacrosse national team were denied visas to the 2022 World championship in the United States of America, Maryland, Towson city. 

The team Uganda was set to be the first African team to compete in the World Lacrosse Championships.

According to the Sports Nation, The General team manager Williams Thuy came forward to say that:

The denial letter stated that they were poor and therefore had no reason to return to Uganda after the games.

The team has been under going intensive training at the Mehta stadium, Lugazi for the past couple of months under head coach Colin McSharar and assistant coaches Kelly Mcquilkin, Nicole Kali and Keith Lubangakene.

A well blended team of 19 players was already confirmed to travel on 25th June 2022 to travel to USA.

The National Council of Sports when asked about the matter said that, Federation had Fake documents something that the Uganda senior women Lacrosse national team manager, Isaac Mugabi Ssekamwa dismissed saying that;

 

No, It was one of the parent’s documents that were termed as fake at the embassy since the player had to go with her because she was a minor.”

 

We have approached almost all offices to recommendation and am glad to say that we were helped among those are State house, Parliament and the different senators in the USA and have re-submitted new applications which are under review. ” he added.

If we are given the visas we shall still go the USA and play some friendly matches with some other countries that are camping in the USA since we can’t compete because the tournament will have started already” he concluded

Gloria Asasira(GK), Winnie Angom(GK), Lilian Hope Amoit, Shiran Bashabomwe, Joyce NAKIBULE, Miriam Ayenyo, Tracy Tushemerirwe, Christine Ijawet, Evelyn Nelima, Teopista Nabunya(Assistant Captain), Flavia Nalwanda, Robin Koehler Aline, Patience Amulen, Dorothy Nakato(Captain), Ashar Nantale, Marion Nandala, Vanessa Namiya, Mayi Nankabirwa and Joseline Nandutu.
