Star Times Uganda premier league side, Maroons FC have announced their 25-man squad ahead of 2024/25 season which starts in less than a week.
Two players in Ambrose Kirya and Bashir Mutanda who both once played for Sports Club Villa were among those unveiled.
Kirya who once played for both Kirinya Jinja SS and BUL FC has been nursing a knee injury and therefore was sidelined for a year after Surgery.
For Bashir Mutanda, he has been out of the country has been piling his trade in Eswatini for Mbabane Swallows and returns to a league he knows very well having playing for not only SC Villa but also Mbarara City FC.
The Prison Wardens’ squad comprises of twelve new signings with returning goalkeeper Simon Tamale topping having spent last season in Rwanda with Rayon Sports.
The eleven other newcomers are: Hassan Matovu, Bashir Miranda, Jamal Ssemwogerere, Ibrahim Dada, Rogers Kiwanuka, Ivan Asaba, Apollo Kagogwe, Brian Omirambe, Ambrose Kirya, Muwadda Mawejje and Ivan Mayanja.
The Muhammad Ssenfuma coached side has three goalkeepers Hassan Matovu, Amir Nalugoda and returnee Simon Tamale.
The retained players are Edward Kabona, Innocent Biyika, Fredrick Kigozi, Godwin Kitagenda, Boris Onegi, Ronald Orombi, Felix Okot, Norman Odipio, Jackson Nunda, Solomon Walusimbi, Mujahid Ogama and Darius Ojok.
The Luzira side who finished Seventh last season will start the campaign at home against UPDF on Sunday, 15th September.
