Uganda Premier League side Vipers SC has confirmed that young forward Richard Basangwa has joined Gadafffi FC on loan for the remainder of the season.

This was made official by the venoms on their website on Tuesday morning.

Basangwa, who is a St. Mary’s Kitende ( SMASK) Academy product was handed his senior debut by Vipers in December 2020, in a game the venoms played against Kitara at St.Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.

Since then, he has gone on to make nine more appearances for the Kitende based side.

The 20-year old was part of the Uganda Hippos team that won the CECAFA U-20 tournament in Tanzania and also went on to reach the finals of the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Mauritania, where they lost to Ghana 2-0 to finish second.

He becomes the second youngster to be loaned out by Vipers in this window after Jacob Okao joined UPDF on loan on Monday morning.

Basangwa joins Gadaffi FC who sit eighth on the Uganda Premier League log with 21 points in 15 games. They play Busoga United next when second round resumes next week.
