There is excitement ahead of this season’s National Volleyball League playoffs.

During a joint press conference held on Friday morning at Old Kampala Arena to launch the playoffs, all teams and UVF expressed readiness for the playoffs.

“We are ready for the playoffs that are set to kickoff off on Saturday morning at the Old Kampala Arena ” Flavia Umuhoza, a member of the UVF organising committee said before adding:

“Across all our three series ( A, B and C), game will be played to decide the winners and who gets to be promoted. In Serie A, Nemostars will take on Nkumba University while OBB will battle Sport-S and the winner after three sets will progress to the final ”

Nemostars’ head coach Andrew Okapis also said the play-offs are a different ball game where any mistake can break the team

” We thank God that we have reached the play-offs again as it has been the norm for the past few years. But the play-offs are a different ball game so we need to minimise the mistakes we make because any can bring us down” Okapis said.

League debutants, OBB head coach Lawrence Yakan said he is excited to play in the play-offs for the first time and hope his team can reach the finals.

” Am excited that my team has reached the play-offs during our first year in Serie A. We have suprised many teams in the regular season. Our first target was to make it to the play-offs and we have achieved that so the second one is face whoever comes in our faces so as to make the final” Yakan said.

Nemo Stars have dominated the competition in the last three seasons, winning the trophy in all those years.

Nkumba University, who are the ladies division defending champions failed to make the playoffs after finishing fifth so Ndejje, Sport-S, VVC and KCCA will fighting for the gong.

In the playoffs, Ndejje are up against KCCA while VVC will play Sport-S.
