Samuel Ssekamatte and Joseph Akandwanaho were on target in the second half on Thursday evening as Soltilo Bright Stars tamed KCCA FC 2-0 in a StarTimes Uganda Premier league game played at the MTN Omondi Stadium.

In a boring opening half, there was nothing much to report about save for the Peter Magambo’s rebound from a Sadat Anaku’s freekick that rattled the post.

After a disastrous first half for his team, Bright Stars head Baker Mbowa made two halftime changes bringing on Joseph Akandwanaho and Joseph Janjali and from then on, Bright Stars started dominated proceedings, restricting the Kasasiro Boys to few chances as well as imposing pressure upfront.

After imposing alot of relentless pressure on the KCCA backline, Bright Stars finally took the lead in the 67th minute after a well taken Ssekamatte freekick from almost 30 yards.

But just before the goal, Ssekamatte had combined well with Akandwanaho but Charles Lukwago made a brilliant save to deny the Bright Stars topscorer.

Moments later, KCCA were unlucky not to be level after Charles Lwanga’s bullet shot hit upright after he was set up by Anaku.

The Kasasiro Boys continued to look for an equaliser but Bright Stars’ goalie Samuel Tamale parried Anaku’s Audacious freekick over the crossbar.

Although KCCA attacked more in the closing exchanges, it was Bright Stars that doubled their lead after Akandwanaho collected from Marvin Joseph, dribbled past two KCCA players before he slotted it into the bottom corner of the goal for his team’s second.

The Kasasiro Boys fashioned the last chance of the game as Substitute Gift Ali dispatched his volley just wide.

The results sees Bright Stars extend their unbeaten run to six games and now move up to sixth position on the log with 33 points in 21 games.

While KCCA, who have suffered their second home loss this season, remain fourth on the log with 37 points.
