Match day 18 of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League present us with an enticing encounter between Solito Bright Stars and Police FC at the Kavumba Recreation Center, Wakiso on Tuesday.
Two points separate 15th placed Bright Stars who are currently in the relegation zone with 15 points and 10th placed Police who are on 17 points.
Bright Stars come into this game with confidence after they defeated SC Villa 2-1 in their last encounter while also Police came from two goals to pick a 2-all stalemate at home against UPDF FC.
After their unconvincing start to the season, the Cops have been brilliant in the last seven games, picking up four wins, two draws and just a single loss.
For the Stars, they have struggled for victories this season despite playing well. They currently have only 3 victories in 17 games.
This will be the second meeting between the two sides this season after Police FC thrashed Bright Stars 5-0 in Lugogo with goals from Juma Balinya, Herman Wasswa, Eric Senjobe, Muwadda Mawejje and Emmanuel Mugume.
While the last time they were at Kavumba, it was a 2-2 stalemate. Samuel Ssekamatte Kayongo netted twice for Bright Stars while also, Brian Muruli Mayanja did the same for Police.
“We have prepared well for Police FC, in the first round we had one of the worst performances against them as we conceded five goals in Lugogo. We want to avoid the same mistakes tomorrow.” said Coach Paul Kiwanuka in his prematch conference.
“We have put the SC Villa result behind and we are now focused on the next game as we aim for maximum points so as we can achieve our targets of moving out of the relegation zone,” Kiwanuka added.
Police, who are winless in their last two games will hope for an improved result in order not to drop relegation zone again, a place they occupied in the first 10 games.
“We come into the game with an attitude of winning the game because we need the three points in order to come back on a winning run and gain the position we want” Abdullah Mubiru, the Police coach said
