StarTimes UPL: Mugume, Balinya on target as Bright Stars shares spoils with Police

0

Yasin Mugume and Juma Balinya were on target for their respectively sides as Soltilo Bright Stars and Police FC shared spoils at Kavumba Recreation Center on Tuesday.

The Stars started the game in a very impressive manner. Emmanuel Loki hit the woodwork just five minutes into the game while Marvin Youngman and Ibrahim Kasinde also had their shots saved by Tom Ikara in the first 15 minutes.

Fiat Cleophas had the best goal scoring chance in the first 45, but failed to connect properly with a wonderful driven Mugume corner.

Police struggled to create any meaningful chance in the opening half, so the game went into the break with no scores recorded.

Just like the first, Bright Stars started the brightest in the second, but this time they were rewarded with a Mugume’s strike to deservingly take the lead.

After that Mugume goal, it looked like it was going to just get harder for Police to comeback.

But, the Cops did find a way to come back into the game and level matters through Juma Balinya heroics.

Balinya put his strike past Emmanuel Were and into the back of the net with just 16 minutes left on the clock.

After his side conceding, Bright Stars head coach Paul Kiwanuka made a panic switch to bring on
Jamil Nvule and Dennis Omony for tired Nelson Ssenkatuka and Emmanuel Loki respectively, with hope that introduced pair could help his side re-install their lead.

But that wasn’t possible as the Police FC backline held on for the game to end in a 1-all stalemate.

After the game, Cleophus Fiat was chosen as the Man of the Match.

With a stalemate, Bright Stars and Police FC stay 14th and 10th respectively on the Uganda Premier League log with 17 games played.
