Mbarara City FC rallied from two goals down to secure a shocking 3-2 victory over Vipers SC at the St. Mary’s Stadium Kitende.
The Venoms started the game the brightest and were 2-0 up at the end of the first half after Yunus Sentamu and Paul Mucureezi’s strikes.
Ssentamu raced onto a Paul Willa through ball to slot home the first of the game before he was involved in the second moments later, setting up Paul Mucurezi to closely tap in from close range to double the Venoms’ lead.
But Vipers surrendered their commendable lead in the second half as they conceded three goals in 35 minutes courtesy of Solomon Okwaliga, Bashir Mutanda and Jude Semugabi.
Okwalinga converted from the spot after Paul Willa handled the ball in the forbidden area in the 56th minute, while Bashir Mutanda levelled matters for the Ankole Lions seven minutes afterwards with a sublime effort.
With four minutes to play, Semugabi completed a dramatic comeback win for his side from the rebound.
This defeat means Vipers have now gone four home games without a victory and now drop to third on the log with 53 points, two behind top-placed Express FC who beat Busoga United (4-0). Mbarara moves to 8th on the log with 32 points in 25 games.
