StarTimes FBL: Maroons back to winning ways, Tooro go top

The StarTimes FUFA Big league returned on Thursday evening with six games. Coachless Maroons FC returned to winning ways while Tooro move top of the Rwenzori group after they defeated Proline FC in Fort portal 

Here is a wrap of all the StarTimes FUFA Big league games played on Thursday evening.

Starting off in the Elgon group, Maroons, who sacked their coach after the loss to Paidha Black Angels returned to winning ways after they defeated Gadaffi FC 2-0 at the Luzira Prison Stadium in Kampala.

Bronson Nsubuga and Fred Amaku netted two early first half goals to ensure Maroons grabbed all important three points and returned to winning ways.

Before Thursday’s game, The Prison side had gone six league games without a victory and were sitting second bottom on the log.

Still in the Elgon group, Black Power defeated Calvary FC 2-0 at the Emokori Playgrounds in Bukedea courtesy of Michael Siwu’s brace.

Siwu netted a goal in each half to ensure that his side walked away with three points.

While in Mbale, Substitute Brian Olega came off the bench at halftime to net the winner as Mbale Heroes defeated Paidha Black Angels 1-0 at the Mbale Municipal Stadium.Olega’s strike came in the 65th minutes following a Ibrahim Kibumba’s free-kick.

In the Rwenzori group, Tooro United moved to the summit of the table after they defeated Proline FC 1-0 at Buhinga Stadium in Fort Portal.

On-form forward Marvin Oshaba scored the all important goal in the second half to send Tooro United to 20 points garnered in 9 games, two above Nyamityobora who sit second.

While in Mbarara, Ndejje University came from behind to secure a 1-all with Terrazzo and Tiles at the Kakyeka Stadium. Barigye Muzeifa opened the scoring for Terrazzo just before the break but his goal was cancelled out by Brian Ssali

At the Kabale Municipal Stadium, Kigezi HomeBoys secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Water FC courtesy of Niwamanya Dickson’s  first half strike.
