Soltilo Bright Stars and Express FC played out to a goalless stalemate in a StarTimes Uganda Premier League game played at the Kavumba Recreation Center on Monday.

The home side, Bright Stars had the best goal scoring chance but failed to convert from those for the game to end goalless.

In an opening half that had few chances, Bright Stars was the better side but as usually, they lacked that sharpness in front of goal to break the deadlock.

Emmanuel Loki had two chances, that would have turned into goals but the forward was enable to find the target.

Loki put his effort wide in the seventh minute before he had his effort parried away by Express’s Denis Otim two minutes afterwards.

Later on in the half, Nelson Ssekantuka had the Stars’ best goal scoring chance but he failed to put the ball into the back of the net after a sweet cross by Andrew Kaggwa. The skipper controlled badly and slide before taking his effort.

The game went into the break with nothing on the score boards for two sides.

Having endured an unpleasant opening half, Express started the closing half brighter as they got their first attempt on target five minutes in.

George Ssekaaba shot powerfully towards goal but Simon Tamale, the Bright Stars goalie made an acrobatic save to deny the Red Eagles striker.

After an hour, Bright Stars got a chance to go ahead after Loki was put through by substitute Joseph Janjali to go one on one with Otim, but the forward was unlucky to rattle the crossbar with his chip. Janjali headed wide from the resulting rebound.

Issa Bugembe also tested Otim before the end with a freekick attempt from almost 40 yards out, but the youngster custodian was brilliant to parry the ball away to a corner.

At the end of the 90, the game ended goalless as either side failed to put into the back of the net.

A stalemate takes Express back to fourth place on the log with 28 points in 16 games. Bright Stars stay in the relegation zone with 12 points, two below the line.
