Yunus Sentamu, Allan Kayiwa and Paul Mucureezi were on target for Vipers SC on Saturday afternoon as they defeated Kataka FC 3-0 to advance to the quarterfinal of this year’s Stanbic Uganda Cup.

In a game that was almost one-sided, Vipers broke the deadlock as early as the fourth minute when Sentamu ran onto Najib Yiga’s through ball to round off Kataka goalkeeper Edward Kasibante and score into an empty net.

Vipers had several chances to double the scoreline but Bobosi Byaruhanga, Najib Iga and Bright Anukani missed the target while Disan Galiwango had his penalty saved by Kasibante midway the opening half.

At the start of the second half, Vipers head coach Roberto Oliviera made a double introduction to bring on Paul Mucureezi and Allan Kayiwa for Bob Olwouh and Siraje Sentamu respectively.

The pair was involved in Vipers second goal. Mucureezi had his wonderful freekick parried away by Kasibante for a corner, before Kayiwa thunderbolted his effort into the back of the net following a cornerkick.

Before the death of the game, Mucureezi made it three for the venom – heading in a well driven Galiwango cornerkick.

Vipers SC goalkeeper Fabien Mutombora was almost untested throughout the whole 90 minutes.

Vipers are aiming to defend the cup they won last year after beating BUL FC 8-1 in the final.
