Police FC will be aiming at finishing up the job of eliminating Wakiso Giants and reach the Stanbic Uganda Cup last four when they host the Purple Sharks at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Friday.
The Cops are full of confidence as they hold a 3-1 lead from the first leg game that was played at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium last week.
Yusuf Ssozi, Ben Ocen and Derrick Kakooza scored the three goals away from home for Police, while Ruben Kimera scored in his own net for the Purple Sharks’ one.
Wakiso needs a miracle of sorts, and that is to score three unanswered goals at the Lugogo turf to recover and advance to the next round, while Police just need to protect their lead so as to progress to the last four.
Douglas Bamweyana heads into this game still without injured skipper Hassan Ssenyonjo and striker, Kipson Atuheire, but will be boosted by the return of Ivan Bogere, who missed the first leg defeat.
For Police, they are expected to have Frank Zaga Tumwesigye back from injury after being out of action for the past couple of weeks.
This will be the sixth meeting between the two sides in the last two seasons with Lugogo based side edging Wakiso by the head to head, having 3 wins compared to Wakiso Giants’ 1.
What the coaches said in their Pre-match conferences
“Of course we are disappointed by our first leg result at home but despite that we head to Lugogo knowing that we can still overturn that result and progress to the next round because the players are well prepared for that uphill task” Wakiso Giants head coach Douglas Bamweyana said
