The Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 16 first leg ties continued on Sunday with four games on the menu at three different venues. Two games were played on the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo and both of them were live on TV.
There were comfortable wins for Police and Wakiso Giants at home while two defenders were at rescue for KCCA in Luzira to help them take first leg advantage away from home.
Here is a wrap of the Stanbic Uganda Round of 16 first leg duel played on Sunday.
Starting off in Lugogo, Captain Noordin Bunjo and defender Savio Kabugo were on target as Proline overcame Mbale Heroes 2-0 in the early kickoff at the MTN Omondi Stadium. Mbale Heroes skipper Jamaldin Buchochera got the consolation for the visitors with a beautiful diving header late on in the game.
In the second game at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Police FC claimed a resounding 4-1 win over Soltilo Bright Stars. Ben Ocen was the main tormentor of the day as he netted a brace while Phillip Ssozi and Derrick Kakooza scored the other goals for the Abdullah Mubiru’s side.
Joseph Janjali netted the only goals for the Mwerwerwe based side as they suffered a first leg humble.
In Wakiso , the home side Wakiso Giants humbled FUFA Big league Tooro United 5-1 at the Kabaka Kyabbangu Stadium, Wakisha.
Frank Ssebuufu, Ivan Bogere (brace), Viane Ssekajjugo and Rahmat Ssenfuka were all on target for the Purple Sharks while Marvin Oshaba found Tooro United’s consolation from the spot.
In Luzira, Two defenders, Hebert Achai and Hassan Jurua scored the two goals as their side, KCCA FC overcame Maroons FC 2-0 at the Luzira Prison Stadium. Pius Obuya missed a spot kick for the prisons side.
Action will resume on Monday evening with the second leg ties as Vipers SC will take on UPDF FC at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
Vipers came from a goal down to defeat UPDF 3-1 at the Bombo Military Playgrounds. The Army side will need to win by atleast 2-0 to qualify to the next round.
