BUL FC started off their Stanbic Uganda Cup defense with a narrow 1-0 victory Sparks SC in a round of 64 game played on Monday evening in Mukono.
Hillary Onek scored the all important goal for the Jinja based side as they defeated the Regional side to progress to the round of 32.
Onek’s goal came in the 51st minute when he tapped home from the far post after an excellent in-swinging cross by Emmanuel Kalyowa.
The Eastern Giants are seeking to make it to their third consecutive Stanbic Uganda Cup final after featuring in the 2020/21 and 2022/23 finals ( all against Vipers SC). They lost the 2021 final 8-1 to Vipers in Jinja before avenging for their loss a year later in Masindi after a 3-1 scoreline.
Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 64 will resume on Tuesday evening with three games on the card.
Last year losing finalists Vipers SC will travel to Hoima to face Regional side Bujumbura United at Kibajwa Playground while Eastern Regional side Busei FC will host FUFA Big League side Jinja North United at Ssaza Ground.
The other game of the day will see FUFA Big League’s Calvary FC travel to Budondo Sub-county in Iganga to face Eastern Regional side Budondo United.
