Kitara FC returned to winning ways in the  Uganda Premier League, securing a 1-0 victory over Police FC at Kavumba Recreational Grounds on Thursday evening.

The win not only avenged their past struggles but also reaffirmed their status as a formidable force in the league.

In a tense and closely contested match, Jude Ssemugabi proved to be the difference maker.

The lanky forward, fresh from national team duty with the Uganda Cranes, rose to the occasion in the second half, expertly heading home a Solomon Okwalinga free kick to break the deadlock. His precision and composure ensured Kitara walked away with maximum points.

From the onset, both teams displayed grit and determination, with Police FC proving to be a stubborn opponent.

However, Kitara’s resilience and tactical discipline saw them edge past their hosts. The Royals controlled key moments of the game, defending their slim lead with discipline and frustrating Police’s attacking efforts.

The victory lifts Kitara to 4th place on the log with 32 points, signaling a strong comeback after a string of inconsistent performances.

With momentum on their side, the Royals will now shift focus to their next challenge as they aim to close the gap on the top teams.

For Police FC, the defeat leaves them in 12th place with 23 points, as they now turn their attention to their next fixture against Soltilo Bright Stars in the Kavumba derby
