Salim Jamal joins South Africa’s DStv Premiership new entrants

PSL club Richards Bay FC has announced the signing of Ugandan goalkeeper Salim Jamal Magoola from Pretoria Callies.

After spending last season at Pretoria Callies FC who pile their trade in the second league of South Africa, Jamal’s former team failed to gain promotion to the topflight after finishing 12th.

He now joins Richards Bay FC a KwaZulu-Natal team based in Richards Bay. It was promoted to the top flight(DStv Premiership) after emerging as champions of the second tier league The Glad Africa Championship.

This upcoming season will be the first time ever for Richards Bay FC to be competing in the DStv Premiership after formed in 2017.

Jamal has previously featured for the Uganda Cranes his last time being at the 2019 AFCON. He has also played for clubs like Express FC, KCCA, Sudanese giants El Merreikh and Al Hilal Omdurman.

On playing in the PSL next season, he now makes it three after Mamelodi Sundowns duo Denis Onyango and Ismail Watenga as the other Ugandan goalkeepers playing in South Africa’s DStv Premiership.
