Revealed: Agaba and Masaba in as Shafiq Kagimu names best XI of the last 10-years

URA FC midfield ace and team captain Shafiq Kagimu has revealed his team of the best XI players in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League past 10-years. The Cranes midfielder has named a number of players he has watched playing, played with and faced in his team.

But, to our surprise, his team includes only 2 of his team-mates at URA FC –  Alionzi Nafian and Brian Majwega make the cut in goal and on the left-wing respectively.

Here is Shafiq Kagimu’s best XI of the past 10-years:

Formation: 4-3-3
GK: Alionzi Nafian – URA FC

Alionzi beats players like Brian Bwete to mention but a few because he is young, has a strong mindset, he is wise and rarely makes mistakes while in goal.

He stresses a point on why he has Alionzi in goal.

We always feel safe upfront with such a character at the back of the entire team.

Kagimu adds.

He exclaims.

Kagimu has played against the KCCA FC wing-back on multiple occasions and compares the former Maroons defender to Chelsea and Spain’s Marcos Alonso.

Mustapha is one of kind. He is a left defender you will always be assured of scoring for the team either through dead balls or normal play.

He says.

He possesses good shooting abilities. Besides he will assist as well, just like Marco Alonso of Chelsea.

CB: Halid Lwaliwa – Vipers SC

Kagimu also adds that Jjuuko combines excellent tackling with the ability to initiate an attack.

He is excellent at tackling where need be, good at initiating attack after recovering possesion.

Kagimu is one of the best central midfielders in the country. Very intelligent, brilliant at passing the ball, really knows when to go in for a tackle.

He also believes he is so gifted at the final balls.

Waiswa is among the best-attacking midfielders. He is absolutely talented and a gifted midfielder.

He is a masterclass of a player anyone would want to play alongside in a football match.

RW: Allan Okello – Paradou AC

Kagimu tells the world how Okello is a joy to watch. Kagimu and Okello have faced off in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League and also played on the same team with the Cranes. The former KCCA FC play-maker has since moved to Algerian Club, Paradou AC.

Allan Okello is a joy to play alongside and watch. He is a skillfull lad and the way he dribbles from the right, cutting inside and beating defenders makes him big nightmare to the defenders. It’s like they don’t see him coming before they resort to falling down on the ground before when he curves the ball in the far right post the  ‘Lionel Messi Way.

Says Kagimu.

If I may say, he won’t create as many goals as you may think of but he will score for you goals, and beautiful ones.

LW: Brian Majwega – URA FC

Majwega is the devil defenders would never wish to see again in the 90 minutes. That is how Kagimu describes the former Azam, Maroons and KCC FC midfielder.

Majwega Brian, so fast with and off the ball, crazy well-timed crossing ability of the ball and explicit skills.

His dribbling can make his opponents see a devil they will never wish to meet in a 90 minutes match that’s why he makes my best XI.

ST: Robert Ssentongo – Kyetume FC

Kagimu believes Ssentongo is a truly rich source of goals if provided with the right people.

Robert Ssentongo provides a concrete availability of goals.  With such a very creative second line of attack, would score goals for the team in any match with no doubt.
