Kumi University closed in on the top of Group B in the University Football League after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Makerere University on Thursday evening.

A second half header from Kisaale Omega proved decisive as Kumi dominated much of the game, creating several chances before finally breaking the deadlock in the 64th minute.

Okiror Charles provided the perfect assist, allowing Omega to head past goalkeeper Ssebiranda.

Despite Makerere’s late push for an equalizer, including a close-range effort from Agaba and a last-minute goal-line clearance by Amude Gabriel, Kumi held on for a crucial win.

The victory lifts Kumi to third place, just one point behind Makerere and two adrift of Group B leaders Ndejje, keeping their hopes of advancing alive.
