In a surprising turn of events, Park FC, last season’s betPawa Futsal Super League runners-up and Futsal Super Cup winners, have missed the deadline for submitting their application to participate in the upcoming 2025/26 FSL season.

Despite being one of the most successful sides in recent campaigns, Park FC—along with Busunju Spaks and Crown Lubiri—failed to meet the required deadline, automatically ruling them out of the initial licensing evaluation process.

Meanwhile, 14 clubs successfully submitted written applications ahead of Friday’s deadline, expressing interest in featuring in Uganda’s premier futsal competition.

Among them are nine returning sides from last season, including reigning champions Mengo City and Kisenyi FC, who won the inaugural FSL Frenzy Edition Trophy. Other returning clubs include Nansana ASKA, QC Mbarara, Kisugu FC, Grameen, Edgars Youth Programme, Kabowa Dream Team, and Cloud Kabuusu.

The list also features five new clubs hoping to make their FSL debut: Lamansia Sports Club, UG-Kop Futsal Club, Entebbe Cheetahs, Bulenga Zeso, and Lubiri Falcons.

All 14 clubs will now undergo the club licensing process, which runs until 31st July 2025. Only 12 teams that meet the required standards across the licensing criteria will be granted permission to participate in the upcoming season.

Licensed teams will then begin the Player Registration Exercise on the FUFA CMS system from 1st to 31st August, in preparation for the league’s kickoff on 25th September.
