In the second week of the men’s National Basketball League, an intense matchup unfolded at the Lugogo Indoor Sports Arena between Livingstone Basketball club and Ndejje University Angels.
Both teams, having suffered defeats in their opening fixtures against JT Jaguars, were eager to turn the tide in their favor.
Livingstone, a newly promoted team, displayed remarkable determination in their quest for victory against the formidable Angels.
Diopa Dorucha Lukusa initiated their scoring with a two-pointer, setting the tone for a fierce battle.
Despite their valiant efforts, Livingstone found themselves trailing 18-9 at the end of the first quarter.
Lukusa, though impactful, faced challenges converting points and capitalizing on free throws. Ndejje, leveraging their experience, extended their lead to 39-23 by halftime.
Livingstone showcased commendable defensive prowess but struggled to convert it into a winning advantage in the National Basketball League.
The championship-caliber Livingstone team staged a compelling comeback in the final quarter, narrowing a 20-point deficit.
However, their efforts fell short as Chikom Monybai’s crucial three-pointer and Christine Ndibu’s contributions secured the victory for the Angels.
Christian Ndibu a recent addition at Ndejje Angels emerged as the standout player in the recent National Basketball League (NBL) game, showcasing an outstanding performance.
With an impressive game and season-high 19 rebounds, along with a notable contribution of 9 points and 3 assists, Ndibu proved to be a pivotal force on the court.
His remarkable display of skills and all-around performance undoubtedly earned him the title of the NBL Player of the Game.
Despite Livingstone’s determined resurgence, Ndejje ultimately reclaimed their winning form, securing a 64-55 victory.
Ndejje through their head coach expressed concern about his team’s complacency, acknowledging that it nearly cost them the game.
The contest not only showcased the resilience of Livingstone but also emphasized the importance of maintaining focus in the competitive landscape of the National Basketball League.
