NBL: KIU Titans to host Nam Blazers, City Oilers in pre-season friendlies


Kampala International University ( KIU) Titans Basketball Club will host New entrants Nam Blazers and record seven-time consecutive champions City Oilers in Pre-season friendlies ahead of the upcoming 2021 FUBA National Basketball league season.

The development was confirmed on Wednesday morning through a press release circulated by the club’s Head of Communications Franklin Kaweru.

“KIU Titans Basketball Club has organised two pre-season friendly games ahead of the 2021 National Basketball League season,” part of the press release read.

According to the KIU head coach Brian Wathum, these two games will prepare his team well ahead of the upcoming season.

We will be playing quality opposition and I believe they will help in our preparations for the season,” Wathum said.

The two games will be played during the Easter holidays at the KIU Courtz with the Nam Blazer’s game set for Good Friday (2nd April), while KIU will take on City Oilers on Easter Monday( 5th April).

The two games will be streamed on FUBA TV as a dry run for the season.

The 2021 NBL season will tip-off on 17th April 2021 with five fixtures on the opening day. KIU Titans will take on Betway Powers at the KIU Court while defending champions, City Oilers will battle Nam Blazers in the other mouthwatering fixture.

Last season’s league was called off days before kickoff after a presidential directive to put a ban on all public gatherings as a measure to curb the COVID-19 pandemic.
