Campswahili 107 (Amuge 48, Agwang 4-3) beat Pamba 94 (Kongai 33*, Lorna 15, Aleto 5-16) by 13 runs

In today’s SCA Women’s 50-Over Elite League, Nakatunya Cricket Club celebrated their first win of the season, defeating Senior Quarters by two wickets in a tense match at City Oval.

This much-needed victory came after Nakatunya’s rough start with back-to-back losses, while Senior Quarters entered confidently, having won their opening two games.

Senior Quarters won the toss and opted to bat, hoping to continue their winning momentum.

However, their top order crumbled as star batter Iloku Esther fell for just 4 runs.

Despite a brief recovery led by Ariokot Malisa, who scored a quick 23 off 23 balls, the rest of the lineup faltered, leaving them all out for a meager 73 in just 18.5 overs.

Nakatunya, determined to seize the opportunity, chased down the target with relative ease, though they lost eight wickets along the way, securing their first points of the season.

Meanwhile, in the day’s other matchup, Campswahili edged out Pamba in a nail-biter, winning by 12 runs.

Pamba, coming off a heartbreaking 3-run loss to Senior Quarters last weekend, continued to struggle with their chase strategy.

Pamba’s captain Lorna Anyait chose to bowl first, and initially, it seemed the right call as they kept Campswahili under pressure at 27/3.

However, a resilient 48 off 52 balls from Amuge Kevin revived Campswahili’s innings, guiding them to a total of 107 in 34 overs, helped along by Pamba’s 41 extras.

Pamba’s chase showed some promise, especially with a fighting 33 off 29 balls from Kongai Mercy Tracy.

Yet, Campswahili’s bowlers kept chipping away, consistently taking wickets to halt any substantial partnership.

Pamba fell short by 13 runs, marking another missed opportunity and keeping them winless in the league.

With Campswahili’s victory, they now sit atop the leaderboard with 6 points.

Next weekend’s fixtures will see Nakatunya face off against Pamba at Soroti City Oval, while Campswahili meets Senior Quarters at Madera Ground in what promises to be another thrilling round in the league.
