Morley Byekwaso names final Ugandan squad for the CECAFA U18 Championship


The head coach of the Uganda U18 National Team, Morley Bwekwaso, has named a 23-player squad for the upcoming CECAFA U18 Boys Championship in Kenya, running from November 25th to December 8th, 2023.

Byekwaso expressed confidence in the selected squad, consisting of three goalkeepers, seven defenders, eight midfielders, and five forwards, all chosen after rigorous training and skill assessments.

Bwekwaso emphasized the need for extra effort, particularly in a challenging group that includes powerhouses Zanzibar, Tanzania, and South Sudan.

The team, focused on physical and mental conditioning, recently demonstrated their prowess in a friendly match against BUL FC, securing a 2-1 victory, with Katongole Frank scoring both goals. This success followed earlier test games against Gaddafi FC, showcasing the squad’s determination and progression.

Goalkeepers; Magada Abdu, Etuta Bieven Siraje and Nsubuga Chris Ronald.

Defenders; Ssonko Ssembatya Hafidhu, Kaye Ronald, Wandera Hakim, Abalirya Peter, Anguti Amagu Louis, Mukisa Simon and Namaisi Stephen.

Midfielders; Katongole Frank, Kisolo John Innocent, Batiibwe Charlse Okello, Karungi Abusaid, Mutyaba Travis, Mutebi Hakim, Mpasa Swabir and Ssekajugo Elvis.

Forwards; Kyeyune Abasi, Okello Richard, Yiga Alex, Mayanja Abubaker and Kisiriko Dennis.
