The second edition Maracanã 5 Sunday League is set to kick-off in two weeks-time, on the 13th February 2022 at the  Maracanã Sports World Complex.

The League that lasts for five Sundays started last year in December before being claimed by eventual winners Kabali FC. The organisers have promised a tougher challenge this time round.

The first edition graced participation from Kabali United FC (current champions), The Real Goats FC, Maracanã FC, Ka’Balaza FC, Vibes Uplifted FC, Real Vibes FC, Pingili Pingili Masters FC, Kabali City and Kizito FC.

At the end of the league, the champions, Kabali United walked away with five hundred thousand Uganda shillings (500,000/=), while the runners-up, another Kabali side, Kabali City, claimed the two hundred and fifty thousand shillings (250,000/=) prize money. Maracana FC was the last on the standings after failing to win a single match.

Real Goats’ Cyprian Kamya scored the most goals in the league (12) and received a box of Lato Milk on top of his prize as the league’s top scorer.

The second edition of the Maracanã 5 Sunday League will be played from the 13th February to 13th March, 2022.

The Organisers of the league have promised a more revamped competition this time round for a better experience for the participants.

The winner this time round will walk away with a million shillings (1,000,000/=) and the first runners-up will claim five hundred thousand shillings (500,000/=). All winners and best performing players will be awarded medals at the end of the league.
