Vipers Sports Club President Dr Lawrence Mulindwa says he is willing to break the bank to get a professional coach for his club come next season.

The former FUFA president was addressing the media in a press conference held today 28th June 28, 2021, at St. Mary’s stadium

Vipers SC has had the problem of head coaches for several years and Mulindwa feels this is the right time the club should bury this problem for good.

“Our biggest problem as Vipers has always been with the Head coaches, our recruitment system has been poor and I think this the time we hire a professional Head Coach,” he said.

It should be noted that the club parted ways with its head coach Fred Kajoba who had four league games left to end the season, in a manner which the Mulindwa described as unprofessional conduct.

“It very unprofessional for a coach who signed a contract on his way into the club to just walk away like how he did, we cannot tolerate such conducts anymore,” Mulindwa expressed his concern

However, Lawrence Mulindwa was very optimistic about hiring a new head coach and he confirmed the fact that the search is on

“This time we are solving our problem for good, we need a professional coach with character and experience,” he mentioned some of the qualities he’s looking for in a coach.

“We want someone who has seen it all, a coach with a winning mentality, respected by the players, someone who has been exposed enough and a person who will strengthen our youth structure.”

Vipers have had a pool of head coaches in the past who Mulindwa, in his opinion says they have failed to do what was expected of them and lacked the aspect of professionalism

“We are taking our time, we want to hire someone whos ready to withstand any amount of pressure and can work under deadlines because for me I can never stop demanding results.”

Former KCCA FC manager, Mike Mutebi was reportedly said to have agreed to terms with vipers SC, but, Mulindwa has dismissed the claims.

“We have not agreed with anyone as our head coach yet, but the search is going on and we are taking our time.”

Vipers won their last and fourth Uganda Premier League title last season after the season was prematurely ended due to the constraints brought about by the first prevalence of coronavirus.
